As power returned to most of Manhattan on Friday, Murray Hill was still shrouded in darkness. Ventured down to make some pictures in a very disorienting urban landscape before the lights power came back on. We probably won’t see this again until our third once-in-a-generation hurricane. A full set coming soon. © Dominick Mastrangelo
Here are some selects from my time out surveying the Hurricane Sandy aftermath on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. A full gallery of my before and after photos can be seen here © Dominick Mastrangelo
Ventured back out after midnight to survey some of the damage. It pretty dark and empty out there with police cards zipping by with just their lights flashing. But you can see into Fort Tryon Park and there are trees down everywhere. Will take sunrise to see the extent of the damage. But how it sounded from my apartment a 100 yards or so away during the storm and from seeing it tonight. It’s gonna be bad.
Here are some Hurricane Sandy photos from the intersection of Hillside and Broadway in Upper Manhattan. The van photo was taken further up Broadway along Fort Tryon Park.
